Searching the Inventory
Click on screen capture to view at full resolutionThe Search Form is used to locate records in the database.  You can use the location and category parameters in the record to search the database and you can also use a key word search on the item description field in each record.
Currently all of these search parameters are applied as  AND criteria.  That is, a record must match all criteria to be included in the search results.
There are three sections to the Search Form.
1. Search Criteria (Red Outline).  This where you set up the parameters of the search and start the search of the Inventory (by clicking on the "Search" button).
2. Search Results (Blue Outline).  This is where you can view the results of your search.  The "Qty Found" text block will tell you if anything in the database matched your criteria.  If the number in this box is not zero, then the "Items Found" drop down list will identify the matching records.
3. Inventory Kits section (Green Outline).  If the item you selected belonged to one of the established kits, that kit will be identified in main box in this section, and the established minimum quantity for this item in this kit will be displayed.
Click on screen capture to view at full resolutionIn this screen I have selected the "Saloon" cabin as a search parameter.  With that the "Search" button is enabled and I can search for all inventory records for the Saloon.
Click on screen capture to view at full resolutionI clicked on search and 92 items in the inventory have been recorded for the Saloon.  The drop down list includes them all, but there is a fairly long scroll bar on this list.  Finding what I'm looking for can be easier than this.  Additional parameters are likely required.
Click on screen capture to view at full resolutionFor the search in this screen capture I have used the key word search in the Item Description field.  In this case I used "raymarine" as the key word and found all of the Raymarine equipment on Sarah.
Notice that the search is not case sensitive.  I spelled "raymarine" in the key word field, but it found "Raymarine" in the records.
You can enter multiple key word search values in the text block, separated by a comma ",", but they will be used logically as AND criteria in the search.  So if I entered, "raymarine, wind" only my wind instrument would have been found.
Click on screen capture to view at full resolutionIn another search I have used the "Medical" category for the search and found 17 entries.
Click on screen capture to view at full resolutionI selected the 1/2" waterproof tape from my medical supplies.
Click on screen capture to view at full resolutionNow I have gone to the Critical Kits drop down list at the bottom of the form and selected the "First Aid" kit.
Click on screen capture to view at full resolutionThen I increased the minimum quantity from 0 to 2.  When I click on the "Add to Kit" button the 1/2" Waterproof tape will become part of the First Aid kit in Sarah's inventory.
The Inventory workbook will now flag this item if the quantity every drops below that level.  I currently only have 1 in the inventory so this is already below the minimum level.
The Critical Kits Form is used to manage these minimum stocking levels.
