Filtering Based on Content

Content Filters
Fig. 1, The Content Filter Controls

A content filter of the Light Lists is the most basic of the filters provided by LightListManager. These filters look for the specified content in the appropriate field of each entry in one or more lists and displays all entries that have that content. The content can be specified by either the controls in the Filter section of the main form or by clicking the "Set Text Filter" button below that section. These content filter controls are shown in fig. 1 by the red ellipses.

Fig. 2, Setting a Range Filter

The Filter by Content section of the main form coontains a number of controls that can be used to filter the Light Lists. In Fig. 2 I have entered a value of 10 in the "Range" box. This will filter the contents of the loaded lists for all lights with a range of 10 nm or more. I clicked the "Apply Filters" button and the form displays to results of the filter. Notice that the "Apply Filters" button is now labeled "Clear Filters". Clicking that button now will clear the filter and restore the original Light List display.

Notice, also, that the background color or the "Range" box is now Cyan. Whenever a filter control is active the background is Cyan. otherwise it is White.

Text Filter

Setting a Text Filter

The other content filter is provided by the "Text Search" button. In Fig. 3 I have clicked the button and the text filter dialog is opened. I entered "oc" in the Characteristic box to filter only those lights with an Occluded characteristic. You can refer to the "Light List Data Display" subsection of "Basic Stuff" to access the program provided definitions of the various light characteristics.

The text filters are non-case sensitive, so "oc" is the same as "OC" for the filter process.
